BOSTON Three anti-Pilgrim activists were honored at the 29th Local Environmental Action conference earlier this month: Norm Pierce of Plymouth, Mary Lampert of Duxbury and David Agnew of East Harwich.
More than 400 activists from all six New England states gathered at Local Environmental Action 2016, a conference focused on a range of environmental issues from cleaning up toxic pollution to fighting global warming, to Flint and environmental justice.
Pierce, Lampert and Agnew were recognized as part of a movement to protect health and the environment from Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station.
Claire Miller of the Toxics Action Council handed out the awards, prefacing her presentation with an assertion that grassroots opposition to the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station was in large part responsible for its owner, the Entergy Corporation, deciding to close down the plant no later than 2019.
