MEDWAY - An environmental advocacy group is arguing that the company that is petitioning a state board for the construction of a 200-megawatt expansion of their existing Summer Street power plant has failed to fully respond to the boards first set of information requests.
The Conservation Law Foundation, in its motion to amend the State Energy Facilities Siting Boards schedule, said Exelon failed to fully respond to the boards first set of information requests. If the motion is granted, progress on the plant could be delayed by about two months.
The requested amendment is required in order to ensure the Board, and all parties, have adequate time and opportunity to review, analyze, and request additional information regarding known, potentially significant impacts associated with the proposed facility, the organization's motion reads.
The Conservation Law Foundation is one of four intervenors in the boards process of allowing Exelon to build the expansion. Other intervenors include the town of Medway, the Charles River Watershed Association and Eversource, which operates a switch yard on the existing site. Intervenors are entities legally recognized by the Facilities Siting Board and allowed to comment on the project.
