FALL RIVER For modern-day Borden sisters Ellen and Barbara, the house where their ancestors were brutally murdered 123 years ago on Aug. 4 isnt at all creepy.
In fact, they were dressed in period costume on Tuesday and portrayed characters in the annual Pear Essential Players dramatization at the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast/Museum.
Were cousins, distant cousins, said Ellen Borden, who played Mrs. Phebe Bowen, a neighbor of the Bordens. Her sister, Barbara Morrissey Borden, portrayed Miss Manning, a Herald News reporter.
The sisters are the daughters of Robert Cook Borden Jr. They share a common ancestor. Lizzie Bordens great-grandfather is their great-great-great-great-great-grandfather. The relation, however, is not direct, as Lizzie and her sister, Emma, had no children.
