BRAINTREE Gov. Charlie Baker has appointed Mayor Joseph Sullivan to the expanded state Department of Transportation board of directors.
Baker announced Sullivans appointment Tuesday morning, along with that of Leominster Mayor Dean Mazzarella. Theyre the two new members of a now 11-person DOT board.
The action comes five months after Baker picked Sullivan for a special MBTA review panel, which analyzed the Ts operations and problems after the train system ground to a halt during Februarys fierce cold and snow storms.
In a prepared statement, Baker said Sullivan and Mazzarella will bring important perspectives to the challenges of fixing the states transportation system.
