Luxury condo complex comes to Jamaica Plain
Friday, July 31, 2015
Paul Restuccia

With the tearing down of Casey Overpass and new residential development, Forest Hills is the latest Jamaica Plain neighborhood to gentrify.

And a new high-end development near the Forest Hills Cemetery is bringing denser housing to an area of mostly working-class homes between Tower and Walk Hill streets.

Called The Townhouse Lofts at 57 Wachusett St., the luxury condo complex consists of eight three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath townhouses in three contemporary-style buildings.

The complex sits on a 20,000-plus-square-foot site that housed a 1899-built Mansard Victorian, for which developer Stephen Ballas paid $1.6 million. Some in the neighborhood wanted Ballas to restore the historic home as part of the project.
