President Barack Obama has hand-selected the former head of the MBTA, who resigned this year as the record-setting winter walloped the state, as a nominee for a seat on the National Transportation Safety Board.
MBTA General Manager Beverly Scott was among those nominated to federal posts, according to the White House announced.
Scott, the first woman and second African-American to head the T, served in the state for more than two years. She announced her resignation abruptly in February as frustration mounted with late and cancelled trains and other of the citys snow-related snafus.
Frank DePaola took over the gig in an interim capacity in April.
