Turning back time: Revere Beach long ago

Ice along the shore in this postcard from around 1908

Revere Beach was frequented mostly by the working class and the many immigrants who chose to settle in the area.

The wooden Cyclone Roller Coaster, pictured in the background, became famous for its 100 foot vertical drop and speeds of 45 to 50mph. It was built in 1925 at a cost of $125,000 and operated for 50 years.
