Toronto's possible entry into the 2024 race could complicate one of Boston's major assets as a bid.
Timing Continues to Be an Issue for Boston 2024

By 2024, the Summer Olympics won't have been held in the United States for 28 years. In that span, the summer version of the Games will have been hosted on every habitable continent (including Europe twice) except for North America. That would seem to bode for Boston 2024, as the promise of an American-hosted event is, in theory, an alluring one for the International Olympic Committee (given, among other reasons, the vast television market).
The timing, in other words, appears right.
The reality, unfortunately for the bid organizers, has proven on multiple occasions that timing isn't Boston 2024's strong suit.
~snip~.
The root of the latest issue can be traced back months ago. The original concept bid, now referenced as the "1.0" Olympic plan, was not fully released. Eight pages of information in total were redacted from the original public release of Boston 2024's bid in January. This decision, undertaken for the officially-stated reason of protecting "proprietary information," came to haunt organizers.
