Potassium Iodide (KI) tablets will be distributed to Naval Air Station Patuxent River personnel living or working within the 10-mile zone of the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant March 12, 2025. The KI tablet distribution is in partnership with St. Mary’s County Health Department routine KI distributions.

Intersection of Delalio Rd and Tate Road
Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Personnel will need to complete a distribution form identifying the number of individuals in the household and sign for the KI tablets. There is no fee and the KI tablets will be available while supplies last. Instructions regarding KI tablets will be presented at the time of distribution.
No one should take Potassium Iodide unless instructed by public health or emergency management officials during an emergency incident.
Potassium Iodide (KI) tablets help prevent thyroid cancer in people exposed to radioactive gases released during atomic reactor accidents. They do not prevent any other radiation caused cancers. To learn more, please visit SMCHD.ORG/KI.

For peace of mind, look for a pre-Trump US health guideline or a professional medical body guideline or an international health entity guideline (often readily available online) -- or better yet talk to a health professional with actual knowledge and training in this area before you ingest medicine-y stuff.
