Tens of thousands without power, Bay Bridge closes as wind gusts up to 60 mph slam DC area

Tens of thousands are without power as vicious winds pushed through the D.C. area Sunday — and one of the region’s major bridges has closed due to gusts that have surpassed 55 mph.

The Bay Bridge is shuttered to traffic, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority. The Nice-Middleton Bridge had been closed, but is now open, though wind restrictions remain.

In Montgomery County, Maryland, multiple trees have come down, blocking roads and bringing down power lines. Including at least one that came down on a house.
