Try this one. I-70 runs through Maryland from north of Hancock to Baltimore. It's the Interstate that the truckers would take were they to head east from Hagerstown toward Frederick, which is on the way to DC. At Frederick, I-270 splits off from I-70. I-70 heads east to Baltimore, and I-270 heads southeast to DC.

No truckers today in DC; "People's Convoy" intends to convene a meeting tomorrow morning at 8am to determine strategy, but they recommended participants extend hotels to stay into Maryland until Monday.

So likely no relevant activity in DC until at least after the weekend.

In a speech completing the evening, an organizer tells the group to be "patient."

Many had expected to head to DC by tonight, but he say a meeting will be convened at 8am tomorrow to determine a "diplomatic" strategy to approaching the city.

I thought the motivation was to protest mask mandates. To the best of my knowledge, nearly all states have withdrawn the mandates, making the wearing of masks optional/by choice.

A small crowd of people are watching the truck convoy go by on I-270 here by the Clarksburg premium outlets exit.

Truckers this morning determined their new course of action:

They now plan to caravan from Hagerstown to the beltway outside DC, take two full loops around the city, and then return to Hagerstown.

They will continue this daily with more loops until demands met, they say.

Trucker convoy’s trip around DC Beltway winds down

The People’s Convoy that came across the country to protest COVID-19 restrictions is wrapping up its second circuit of D.C.’s Beltway Sunday afternoon.

The convoy is currently heading west on the outer loop of Interstate 495 and approaching Interstate 270, where it will return to Hagerstown Speedway in Maryland.

The Washington Post reports:

An armada of drivers calling themselves the “People’s Convoy” is circling the Beltway at a deliberately slow speed Sunday as an act of protest against pandemic restrictions.

Organizers said their goal was to be a “huge pain.” But though the convoy of hundreds of trucks, cars and SUVs started out moving in a formation that stretched roughly 30 miles, it became diluted after merging with normal Beltway traffic.

“We’re not even sure we can call it a convoy any more because it’s so dispersed among routine traffic at this point,” said Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller.
