Hundreds of trucks and other vehicles streamed into the Hagerstown Speedway on Thursday evening as the first group of a rolling political demonstration arrived on its way to Washington, D.C.
The Northeast convoy from New England stopped over with plans to join The People's Convoy headed from California to the nation's capitol to protest pandemic-related government mandates.
"The large convoy from the west will arrive tomorrow afternoon to join the northeast!" said a posting Thursday on a Facebook page highlighting the trek from California. "The People's Convoy becomes one!"
The Northeast convoy departed Harrisburg, Pa., Thursday afternoon, according to the post, and began arriving at the speedway on National Pike west of Hagerstown around 6:15 p.m. ... Supporters gathered around the entrance to greet the rumbling line of vehicles decorated with flags, signs, flashing lights and blaring horns, bells and music.

(25,922 posts)They're really showing us. Aren't they?
I wish they'd think about the Ukrainian People that are being forced to leave their homes and belongings and flee their homeland with only the clothes on their backs. Not knowing what their future holds for them or whether or not they or their loved ones will live to the next day. Men - separated from their families and being conscripted into the Ukrainian Army to fight for their country.
You want something to protest about - now that's something to protest about.
These truckers must be proud of themselves - standing up to health personnel and a government that only want them to remain healthy. Being given the necessary tools that will help protect them and others from a deadly virus that has killed 900,000 + Americans.
These guys in these convoys - really look silly and lame. They are looking even more pathetic now that most of the mask mandates have been lifted around the country.
What are they thinking? Do they really think they have something to complain about?
Really - they should be thanking their lucky stars that they live in this country. In this democracy that allows them to clog up the highways and byways with silly protests.
They should be ashamed of themselves. Compared to the Ukrainian People - they look so shallow. So lame. So stupid. So pathetic.
