Riders rescued from stalled Superman coaster in Maryland

June 19 (UPI) -- Riders on a Superman-themed roller coaster in Maryland were rescued from 205 feet in the air when the ride stalled before a major drop.

The Prince George's County Fire Department said staff at Six Flags America in Bowie were able to rescue the riders trapped on the 205-foot-high peak of a hill on the Superman: Ride of Steel roller coaster.

Fire department spokesman Mark Brady said all of the riders were safely rescued before first responders arrived on the scene.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the ride's malfunction was not immediately clear.
