3 local offices up for election in March

Two local school board seats and a Harpswell Select Board seat are up for election in March.

Select Board Chair Kevin Johnson is seeking reelection, as is Maine School Administrative District 75 school board member Gregory Greenleaf. The other Harpswell school board representative whose term is ending, William “Bart” Beattie, has decided not to run again.

According to Town Clerk Cathy Doughty, both Johnson and Greenleaf have already submitted their nomination papers with the required number of signatures. No one else had taken out papers as of mid-December, either to challenge Johnson or run for the school board seat held by Beattie.

Johnson has served on the Select Board for nearly 12 years, including roughly two-thirds of that time as chair. Greenleaf and Beattie are each serving their first three-year term, having been elected in March 2023.
