(1988) A Conversation in Maine with Margaret Chase Smith and Angus King

at the Margaret Chase Smith Library in Skowhegan

Before he became a senator, Angus King was a television host for WCBB Channel 10, a PBS affiliate in Maine. In this 1988 special, Senator King has an hour-long conversation with Senator Margaret Chase Smith. They discuss her upbringing, the challenges of being in politics and what really happened during her famous "Declaration of Conscience" speech that sowed the seeds of Senator Joseph McCarthy's downfall.
