the high way bonds -yes or no

I think everyone has a right to their opinion but when common sense is lacking it needs to be addressed!
"Proposals for the state to borrow money for helipads in rural communities, transit buses, and innovative research and development projects could go to voters in November, following House and Senate votes Wednesday in support of a series of bond bills.
Other proposed bonds would go for transportation ($51 million), higher education ($11.3 million), sewer and water projects ($7.92 million) and the Land for Maine's Future conservation program ($5 million)."

Helipads in rural areas have been built by private landowners for years. One in Lakeville was built by a nice lady named Lily. It is called the "Lily Pad". Most have been built by logging companies who know very well how important time can be when a logging injury occurs. No bonds were used to build these helipads. Many volunteer fire departments have standardized kits to light the pads at night. As a former military pilot with thousands of hours in helicopters I know how dangerous night landings away from airports can be. The helipads must be maintained. You can't clear a pad and leave. You have to keep vegetation down and keep approaches into the pad clear of tall trees on an annual basis at least. Private landowners do this now. Will the state establish a whole new department to travel around with bush hogs, sprayers and chain saws to do this twice a year at each pad? Another concern is how land for these pads would be acquired.

I'm all for building boat ramps on lakes that don't have public access today. They are the bait. However, much of the "Land for Maine's Future" land has resulted in reduced public access. The new gates alone are quite expensive."
As far as highway bonds go all this guy has to do is drive 5 miles from where we met last fall and look at the overpass decaying!
Our highways are in sad shape and this band aid approach of overlay projects is failing!
our bridges are in sad shape and if we keep kicking the can down the road while both parties rob the hy way fund we will see more roads closed!
And the other two posters in this other forum remind me of that expression between the pair they couldn't muster nuff to blow their noses!
But then maybe closing highways will wake up the public!
400 million tax cut to benefit who -then bonds? tell me this is fiscal responsibility?
NO ITS BUSINESS AS USUAL! AND THE LITTLE GUY GETS SCREWED AGAIN -JUST BY DIFFERENT FINGERS IN THE PIE!
