Reason 8654 why I love living in Maine.

I was downtown and made a stop at a local convenience store. My electronic emergency break locked in "on" mode. Could not move. The dude in the store, said. "Mike across the street can help". So walked over to Mike's and he could tow my car for $75.00...right away. He towed it to my neighbor's auto shop - 1/3 mile from my place. He reset the code and the brake released. He said $25.00, I gave him $30.00.

I had a good one a few months ago. I was one my way to a friend's place about 90 minutes from my place and I had planned to stop in a smaller town on the way because the gas was cheaper there at the truck stop. I also needed to check my oil as I suspected I needed to add some but I couldn't get the cap off. I'm sort of short and the vehicle is a 4WD Toyota, I can reach the cap but I can't get any leverage on it. I asked a guy near me to see if he could get it but he couldn't either.

At this point I knew of a shop I could stop in and ask for help further into town and figured I'd go there as the guy suggested I go there.

At the shop the guy came right out and got a big wrench thing and popped it right of, he was pretty tall, and wouldn't take any cash for it. I smiled and said to him and the other guy hanging around that this is what I loved about living in small towns.

And I was on my way, blew a half hour but I was in no hurry.

I had to Google up a pic, but yeah, I've seen those but never knew their name. They do look like handy little gadgets.
