(18,172 posts)It would have been best to quietly wash the chalk off instead of calling 911.
Also it would be best to back the Democrats legislation if she really cared about women's rights.

(11,046 posts)Hopefully, the next time she calls 911 for this, neither the cops nor the street crew will waste their time.
The city should send her a bill for it.

(1,654 posts)The people of Maine keep voting for her because she has good constituent services and she is perceived by most people in Maine as good for them. But if this keeps going and she is seen as not voting for them, but just another Republican insider, this may change the minds of some of the voters.

(10,599 posts)I wouldn't be surprised if she finally retires, but it's too late for changing minds of some voters to matter.

Don't know about her Maine town specifically, but it's likely the same.
Oh, the humanity! What's next for poor Susan, art tourists flocking there to admire the (public) art?

It looks like row houses.
This is her home in Bangor Maine at the corner of Hayward St and W Broadway.
This was the messaging in front of her home.
It’s chalk.

It’s in this context that Collins, according to the Bangor Daily News report, complained to police about sidewalk chalk. (Officers summoned a public works employee to wash it off but are not otherwise pursuing the matter.) A source close to the chalking says that two people were involved in its execution and that Collins’ husband, a longtime Republican staffer and lobbyist named Thomas Daffron, delivered a personal “scolding” to them while it was being written.
On Tuesday, meanwhile, more chalk messages were left, including one that said: “You might not recognize our right to free speech, but I hope you recognize my right to an abortion.” Daffron told the Bangor paper that he has not alerted authorities to the presence of the new slogans

(149,922 posts)because it looks like a typical D.C. row house (I have some old friends down there and have been in their homes years ago, and we have a similar style here in Philly too).

In a search, there was an article from the Bangor Daily News that had an AP report from 2011 (the Bangor paper has a paywall so I got a cached copy of the link since AP refuses to call up one of their older articles from a decade ago) - https://bangordailynews.com/2011/02/10/politics/susan-collins-buys-new-home-in-dc/usg=AOvVaw0BQidbQVQjX0JIbtZ3nomV

PORTLAND, Maine — U.S. Sen. Susan Collins still plans to return to Maine on most weekends despite buying a new home in the District of Columbia.
Spokesman Kevin Kelley confirmed reports that Collins sold her Washington home and purchased a larger four-bedroom townhouse near her Capitol Hill office.
She and Thomas Daffron, a friend and former colleague, purchased the home together for $705,000 as an investment property. It’ll serve as her home-away-from-home when she’s not in Bangor, Maine.
Some of these folks also "stay" at one of their colleagues', relatives' or friends' homes too, during weeks they are working in D.C.
