Best tool for a gardener.

I have been working on my vegetable garden the last few days. It is what used to be called a kitchen garden just for fresh produce during the summer. I also have ten perennial flower beds. As I stopped for lunch I looked in my garden shed I have rows of tools and at times they are very handy. However I still think the most important tool for a gardener are their two hand. Any one else feel the same way?

Because that's how I decide which tool to use for anything. You reasoning is even more important

2. Just heading out to pull weeds in my perennial beds...with two hands and no gloves.

I yearn all winter to get "in the dirt" as soon as spring arrives and have thoroughly enjoyed planting flowers all spring. However, along with the rains came the weeds, so today will be devoted to getting rid of them. I'm afraid it will be a full-time job.

No better therapy than to work with the soil...with your hands.

3. Pulling weeds is great for getting all the frustration out!

I have just spent a couple of days cleaning out an overgrown perennial bed. It looks great! I'm so proud of myself.

If you have rabbits, you may have risk for tularemia... A woman gardener contracted (as did a dog) in northern Larimer County, Colorado just a week ago. Landscapers and others can be at risk through cuts in their hands or inhalation (especially mowers)...

Just an fyi. (I love rabbits by the way, even though they can be truly distructive to gardens)
