A new Courier-Journal Bluegrass Poll finds fairly brutal numbers for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R).
Only 17 percent of registered voters in Kentucky say they will vote for him in 2014, including only 34 percent of Republicans. Thirty-four percent of voters plan to oppose him, 44 percent want to see their other options, and 6 percent are not sure.

This may be wishful thinking - when it comes down to it, a lot of Kentucky will vote for the R, regardless of who it is. But it gives me hope!

(3,718 posts)I was encouraged by this poll. As for electing another Repub, that may be...but we do have a Democratic governor at the moment..so...it's possible. Just not certain if we have any candidates strong enough to run. Gov. Breshear has said he's not running for office again after two terms as governor, and the Lt. gov...wants to be governor...so pickings are slim.
Ashly Judd anyone???
Those of us who are Dems in KY will do what we can!

(1,754 posts)But I agree we don't have any strong candidates. I don't have a lot of hope that Ashley Judd will run but I hope I'm wrong. If she doesn't, I think Alison Lundergan-Grimes might be a good candidate. Or maybe Adam Edelen.

(10,784 posts)Yeah... I like her. Very knowledgeable about the workings of government. And don't count Ashley out. Did you hear that she and her hubby are in divorce proceedings now? I just heard that in the last week. Maybe they had the politics discussion and he said no? LOL... my mind is running away with me... And even since hearing of Ashley's sudden divorce, I now hear that Mitch is throwing around the Hemp idea for Ky farmers. I don't know if he's doing that because of this recent popularity poll or threats of Ashley entering the race, or both? Mitch is getting antsy, though. Very antsy....
