Adelsons give $15M more to McConnell super PAC
Casino magnate Sheldon Adelson and his wife Miriam gave another $15 million late in the fall campaign to Sen. Mitch McConnell’s super PAC devoted to electing Republicans to the U.S. Senate.
That brought the Adelsons' total contributions to Senate Leadership Fund to $35 million – dwarfing even other billionaire donors who have given seven-figure amounts to the political causes of McConnell over the last eight years.
Here’s my list of top donors to McConnell political committees since Jan. 1, 2009 – updated with contributions listed in reports filed with the Federal Election Commission and Kentucky Registry of Election Finance in the last week.
The following are the biggest donors since Jan. 1, 2009 through Dec. 6, 2016 to four McConnell committees: McConnell’s own Senate re-election committee, his own PAC called Bluegrass Committee, a super PAC for his Kentucky priorities called Kentuckians for Strong Leadership, and his super PAC for holding the Republican majority in the U.S. Senate called Senate Leadership Fund.
