Okay, I can't resist. I'm starting a thread for the Kansas City Royals.
They've just won the first two games -- my son was at the second one -- and I certainly hope they Go for the Crown.

(23,156 posts)yesterday when I pointed out that something like 78 point something percent of TVs in the Kansas City metro area were tuned in to the games, compared with only about a quarter of the TV sets in NYC. I also pointed out the extremely good natured quality of the Royals fans. Heck, a friend of mine from back there (I live in New Mexico now) who has been a die-hard Yankees fan for at least thirty years, and who said, once they were out, that she simply didn't care about the Series. But now she's posting all sorts of good and supportive comments about the Royals on her Face Book page.
My sister is coming to town today, on her way to Tucson, and since I don't own a TV, and can't watch live streaming (which totally sucks) we'll be spending the evening in a bar.

(24,949 posts)Schools closed. Businesses not sports-related empty. You cannot believe the euphoria in this city! We've waited thirty years for this, and everybody is savoring it, sucking the marrow out of it. WOW.
"If the crown fits, wear it." We're wearing it with a passion!

(23,156 posts)I was able to watch the parade live. The last crowd count I'd seen was a mere 500,000. And one of the parade announcers commented on how nice the Royals fans were, quite unlike the Mets fans they'd encountered in NY. No surprise there.
