Even-year elections bill dead, key lawmaker says

A bill moving elections for cities, school boards and community colleges to even-numbered years was a casualty when it didn't get out of the House before the Legislature adjourned for a four-day break last week.

The bill was stricken from the calendar when House Speaker Dan Hawkins didn't bless any bills to get past turnaround.
