Sherrod Brown Opposes Branstad as ambassador

http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/5/22/1665020/-OH-Sen-Brown-D-Builds-Momentum-Opposing-Gov-Terry-Branstad-R-IA-As-Ambassador-To-China

Terry Branstad is about to become the next U.S. Ambassador to China.

Branstad is notorious for busting collective bargaining rights in his state. Legislation he signed into law will force Planned Parenthood clinics to close this summer.

How can we make an anti-labor, anti-women's rights politician in charge of U.S. relations with a country that has huge human rights problems, especially in the areas of women's and workers' rights.

Will you stand against this appointment? https://www.sherrodbrown.com/landing/e170522pm/Add your name >>

The Senate could make this official this afternoon -- which means we're running out of time to voice our opposition.
edit to add:
Yep, finally someone points out the real asshole that is Branstad

but he is one of (maybe the only!) Trump appointee to know much of anything about the post to which he's been appointed, and to not be actively seeking to destroy the field in which he'll be working.

Other positive is that he's not in Iowa!

"We could have approved this nomination with just a few minutes of debate time," said Grassley. "Yet, the minority required that we use 30 hours--not because they wanted to debate the merits of the nominee, but simply to delay the business of this body.

"It’s unfortunate that their delay has kept an eminently qualified individual from getting into the job to promote American interests in China sooner." Grassley added.

The nation's longest-tenured governor, Branstad served his first stint from 1983-to'99. He defeated Democrat incumbent Chet Culver in November, 2010 for his second stint, then was reelected in 2014.

and Joni wants Branstad to do China the way he did Iowa. She used different words to sound like it's a good thing for China.
