Rep. Steve King Being A Nazi Out Loud Again

Wonkette has a great piece on his assholery.

It’s not really big news that Iowa Congressman Steve King is a big old racist, what with his talk of most Dream Act kids being drug mules with “calves the size of cantaloupes” and his fears of America being overwhelmed by immigrant hordes. But King stepped it up a bit over the weekend with this tweet in support of Dutch politician (and racist, did we mention racist?) Geert Wilders in this week’s elections in the Netherlands:

...snip...

King’s message was wildly popular in some predictable corners:

If you’re getting ecstatic responses from David Duke, you may want to reconsider some of your basic assumptions. Also, best reply to that Duke Tweet we’ve seen: “Every time you tweet I’m gonna race mix.”

But King certainly got some people excited, like this lady who sounds like she has to be joking, but apparently is completely in earnest:

...I have to fight down an urge to look outside of Iowa for a home. Part of me wants to stay and ensure fucksticks like him just can't roll over the people of Iowa people without some opposition, but part of me is just tired of fighting these reich wing stooges.

...especially Dubuque, when I mention that I'm from there to people in other states. I think the reputation of Dubuque and of eastern Iowa in general has actually improved a little bit over the past few years.

But I can see your point, that people hear Iowa and automatically assume we're all a bunch of racist, homophobic fornicate sticks like Steve King, and they then decide to go elsewhere. And I think the King supporters in NW Iowa do need to be blamed for the harm he does to our tourism industry. I think they need to be blamed for the fact that there are many of us, like myself, who are seriously considering moving out of Iowa because of the racism and homophobia. And this "Steve being Steve" bullshit doesn't cut it anymore. As far as I'm concerned that's like a Hitler supporter trying to dismiss what his or her hero is doing by saying, "Oh that's just Adolf being Adolf."
