(63,200 posts)There was one in the New Madrid fault by Cairo, Ill. on a Saturday morning about 30 years ago that really shook us. Have felt 2 other minor ones besides that.
Thank goodness they are rare.

I was awake at the time too.
My sister who lives in Missouri said they didn't notice as they slept through it. No word if the cats had detected the quake.

They asked me about my sister in St. Louis and I told them she slept through the quake. I'm still wondering if Marvel was even more amped up than usual.
