Dubuque police are investigating persons of interest in cross burnings

An update on the cross burnings in Dubuque;

Police Chief Mark Dalsing tells KDTH that some of the physical evidence collected at the scene has been sent to the state crime lab for testing. While Dalsing did indicate that there are some persons of interest in the case, he declined to give any information about number of suspects or details about their involvement.

Dalsing would not comment on a possible motive behind the incident, but did say he still plans to pursue hate crime charges if necessary.

The cross burning was first discovered in the mid-morning hours of April 14. The remnants of a two burned crosses were located near the intersection of Washington and 22nd Streets.

I hope they get the people responsible and put them away for a while.
