Permit issued for construction of Dubuque mosque
This was in this morning's TH;
Down a hallway, past Cutting Edge Salon in a rented basement of a commercial building behind Kennedy Mall, about 50 Dubuque Muslims prayed during a service Friday.
"May Allah enlighten us and keep us on the right path," said Tri-State Islamic Center Treasurer Idris Cherqi.
After several years of preparation and fundraising, plans to build a mosque in Dubuque have been approved, with construction slated to begin this spring, said center President Tauseef Khan.
"Now that we're at the threshold of starting this project -- of having a place of our own -- we're very excited and thankful to Allah and the community of Dubuque," Khan said. "I think this is a great opportunity for all of us to engage together ... to reach out to different religious as well as non-religious communities in Dubuque and bring them together to understand one another better."
And of course if you look down at the comments a couple of the regulars are getting stupid like usual.
