The new President of the University of Iowa had something to say;
The Des Moines Register reports that President Bruce Harreld talked during a television interview Tuesday of respecting the universitys institutional culture but also said it must adapt to future challenges and opportunities. He made his remarks for Iowa Public Televisions Iowa Press program.
Critics have said the former IBM executive is unqualified for the position, given his lack of university administrative experience.
In other words he needs to do Terry's bidding and fuck up one of the finest schools in the country.

(17,995 posts)so at least he gets that right when he moves on to his next job?
If I was a President of a smaller university or a Provost of a comparable one, I would say no way when the next search happens which will be in under 3 years I predict. The search was a sham. The Regents should have just installed him and not wasted the time of the other fine applicants. We had a chance at the Provost of Ohio State, and we ended up with him.
I have my Masters degree from Iowa, and I am sickened by this.
To answer your question. There is a good chance that may happen. Iowa is a large and very complex school (Med and Law colleges). It has such a fine reputation especially when you consider the size of our state. I have been pleased that my daughters have three wonderful options for universities. Neither elected to do there B.S. at Iowa, but my younger daughter is thinking possibly medical school in the future.

(18,470 posts)I would have applied to Iowa in a heartbeat for law school but they don't have a part time program so that I could keep working during this time. That's the big reason why I'm not really considering them. If they had a part time program I would have applied to them already. I asked the law school dean but she said they don't have the resources to staff a part time program and the population isn't big enough around here to support a program. I said to myself and moved on to other schools that do.

Regents should be ashamed. But of course they aren't.
