Indiana man pleads guilty in terrorism-related federal case

CROWN POINT, Ind. (AP) — Federal officials say northwest Indiana man has pleaded guilty to distributing information about explosives in connection with terrorist groups.

The Department of Justice said Friday that 30-year-old Marlonn Hicks of Crown Point pleaded guilty to distributing information regarding the manufacture and use of explosives with the intent the information be used for and in furtherance of a crime of violence.

Prosecutors say Hicks allegedly communicated online with individuals who were cooperating with the government. They say he talked about carrying out an attack in the U.S. and said he wanted to travel to territory under control of the Islamic State and other terrorist groups.

Prosecutors said Hicks sent detailed instructions on how to make explosives to a government source who he thought would use the information to attack the U.S.
