Muncie Planned Parenthood to close

MUNCIE — Planned Parenthood’s Muncie location is set to close Friday because of reduced patient traffic.

The health care center, located at 3550 W. Fox Ridge Lane, sent a statement to its current patients on June 21.

Betty Cockrum, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky (PPINK), said this is a trend spreading across the country regarding reproductive services, but in a way it's a good trend.

“There are significant changes in the provision of reproductive health care, and those are to be celebrated, but they’ve had an impact on our numbers in business,” Cockrum said. “That causes some locations not to be able to sustain.”
