Record breaking late season snow in Indiana

I'm about 60 miles NE of Indy and have measured 4.5 sticking to the ground. Record in Indy this late in the season was 2.4" set in 1897. That record should be broken. Won't get much attention as it will all begin melting in about 6 hours but a pretty significant weather event none the less.

1. Wow, that's quite a bit for this late in the year

I'm in NE New York and snow was predicted for last Friday, but all we got was more rain. It's not unusual for us to get snow in April, remember one year when I was grocery shopping and got stuck in a blizzard, but after we got 34 inches in the first snowfall of the season, another "dusting" doesn't seem so bad...

At 1 PM today we had 70s and just pleasant weather.
At 1 PM tomorrow a strong cold front will take the 70s and push in 40s with a squall line of strong to severe T’storms.
Western MD will try to get in on the late snow action with a few inches possible.

Wednesday Digit: 4/10 - Volatile weather day as a strong spring cold front brings morning warmth, chance of gusty midday storms, then a blustery chill. -Dan, CWG

Be ready for TURBULENT weather in DC area Wednesday. A tranquil, mild morning as temps rise thru the 60s. But then strong cold front brings gusty showers/storms and rapid drop in temps, into the 50s. Need to dress for 2 seasons.

3. Very heavy wet snow.

Even the "Bypass" was a little tricky. And all the tree branches are sloping down. But it is a beautiful snowfall.. The whole town looks like Bedford Falls.

4. That was the forecast, a few days ago, for mid-Michigan.

It was "downgraded" to a Freeze Warning. Right now (7am) it's 26 degrees - 3 degrees higher than the record low. I just checked and don't see TOO much of concern about the Spring blooms. Only time will tell. Oh, and tonight's forecast is for the same.

6. On May 1 in 1996 we had a blizzard in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. This was considered

"normal" and I left the area later that month.
