Morgan County ballot initiatives focus on fire protection districts
A pair of ballot initiatives in Morgan County would have an effect on fire protection districts in Franklin and Woodson.
The Franklin Fire Protection District is asking voters to approve a property tax increase to help fund the department's operational costs as well as the need for new equipment.
In Woodson, the village board is behind a move to make seats on the Woodson Fire Protection District appointed rather than elected.
Both measures need a simple majority of "yes" votes in the Nov. 5 election to go into effect.
