The interesting thing is most guides tell you who is qualified or well qualified or not qualified according to legal groups.
This tells you which judges were overruled because they ruled in favor of jon burge or which ones were in the racist coalition against Mayor Harold Washington.

Makes me realized I voted for some awful people in the past. I'm so glad there are people researching all the judges now.

1. I used bar association ratings from Vote for Judges

which provides the ratings from 12 Bar Associations Illinois, Cook County, and Chicago. Arab American Bar Association (AABAR), Asian American Bar Association of Greater Chicago (AABA), Black Women Lawyers' Association of Greater Chicago (BWLA), Chicago Council of Lawyers (CCL), Cook County Bar Association (CCBA), Decalogue Socity of Lawyers (DSL), Hellenic Bar Association of Illinois (HBA), Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois (HLAI), Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago (LAGBAC), Puerto Rican Bar Association of Illinois (PRBA), and Women's Bar Association of Illinois (WBAI).

There were 79 judicial races/retentions on our ballots. It took for f ever to fill in each blank. In the end, it's a fool's errand, because most people don't even vote this. There has never (I believe) been a judge removed due to one of these election ballots. Also, in Cook County, there is usually only one candidate for judicial races, always Democratic (which doesn't mean they're good judges). For the retention questions, no affiliations are given.

2. I have always used those guides. But, they don't get into the specifics like injustice watch does

If you have time take a look. They get into specifics about what the candidate has done that you may or may not find offensive. They just say which organizations say they are qualified.

3. I figure since it never has any effect

It doesn’t help to have details. As I said, the races are always uncontested, and the retention questions have never resulted in a judge’s ouster. I still vote every slot, including NOs on 5 or 6 judges, on average. But it’s pretty much an exercise in futility.

I like the breadth of views from the many different bars including Black Women lawyers LGBTQ lawyers, etc.).
