1,000 People Attend House Party -- What Us Worry???

If you had any doubt cases of coronavirus are about to explode because of reckless conduct, check out this video and all doubts will be swiftly erased.

1,000 people ignored the stern warnings of doctors and scientists in a city that has been ravaged by the virus ... and jammed into a house on the westside of Chi-Town.

You see what looks like around 100 people in just one room, dancing as music blares in the background. The rest of the house was also packed with people. It goes without saying but there is no visible social distancing ... none.

One of the partygoers told MTO News, "I'm not worried about [the coronavirus] . . . but if I didn't have it before, I probably got it now. Oh well."

Have they not read what Covid-19 does to the human body? Elephant on their chest doesn't deter them? I don't understand the human species. I wonder if maybe we are two different species entirely at this point and scientists just haven't concluded their research or even mentioned it yet.

2. I saw on Facebook that one of my friends in Fort Worth

is planning a big bash (at least one dozen people) with plenty of drinking at one of the Mexican food restauraunts that is opening on Friday. These are people that are 35-45 years old with children at home. I had the same WTF reaction and was wondering if they planned to quarantine themselves for two weeks afterwards. It makes all of the isolation that I've kept up with so well the past seven weeks seem ridiculous.

many young people on the West and South sides of Chicago don’t expect they may live long anyway. Therefore, they live for today. It’s a vicious cycle problem.

I question the 1000 figure. Maybe several hundred, but it’s hard to imagine a house big enough on the West Side that could contain a thousand people. There are some beautiful old row homes in that area, but they’re on the typical narrow Chicago lot, side by side. So unless this involved several contiguous houses, I doubt the 1,000 number is accurate.

7. I think of the Austin neighborhood when I read West side.

Chicago has 77 official neighborhoods. Stats show Austin as having a range of 8 to 11% of Chicago's murders each year.

You're right about their lack of life expectancy.

As far as homes not having that much capacity, my old neighborhood (Belmont-Cragin, the one north of Austin) was teeming with "3-flats", so that's what I pictured. These folks probably don't remember that balcony/porch that collapsed in Chicago a few years back, killing several and putting a bunch more in the hospital. They were all dancing too.

These people know something's gonna kill them. This way, the police save a lot of chalk and crime-scene tape.

All the local news reports said that when the police arrived to break it up there were about 50 people. Of course, some may have left by that time. And it wasn't in Austin or the near West Side but in Galewood, a more middle and working-class neighborhood. According to this interview, there were ultimately around 200 people:

A Chicago homeowner says she was working a 24-hour shift as a first responder when her son threw a massive house party that ultimately went viral.

"I was astounded when I saw the video," the homeowner told NBC 5 in an exclusive interview Tuesday. ...

The woman said she was furious with her son because she hasn't seen her family in weeks in order to maintain social distancing due to risks associated with her job.

"I haven't seen my family in two months because I don't want.. because of my job I don't want to expose them to anything," she said. "So if I'm doing social distancing, then I most definitely don't condone this type of behavior."

The woman's 26-year-old son told NBC 5 he had asked 20 to 30 people to come celebrate the lives of two friends who became victims of gun violence in Chicago. That number quickly ballooned to nearly 200.

Janeal Wright admitted he knew his mother would be at work at the time. Wright apparently deactivated the home’s video doorbell, so that his mother wouldn’t get notified of the increased activity at the house.

There is a town in N.J., Lakewood. Our state paper lists violations of group gatherings. 95% of those offenses take place in that one town.

and "if I get it, I get it" I hear almost excusively from young people, with no regard for the well-being of anyone, including themselves. Some young people do still feel love, and have empathy, I know.

"It's all bullshit", and "they're getting ready to turn us all into sheep" I usually hear from people dressed in some red, white, and blue getup.
