Some skeptical as Democrats continue progressive tax push

Democrats from each chamber of the state Legislature presented three options for the state's future at a recent news conference that aligned with Pritzkers proposal: Deep cuts to state spending, income tax hikes for all or a tiered income tax structure that taxes wealthy people more.
The critics want to protect multimillionaires who worry that their taxes might go up, said state Sen. Don Harmon, D-Oak Park. This would allow us to protect the middle class. Their concern for the middle class in my mind is feigned.
Harmon has a measure to ask voters to change the state constitution's flat tax to a structure that taxes higher earners higher rates. If that measure passes both the Senate and House with a three-fifths vote, it would then have to be approved by three-fifths of voters.
