Laura Durkin is the wife of GOP Senate Leader Durkin, who is now filing bill to have rauner's facility shut down as a health hazard....

Laura Durkin's last job was in office furniture sales in 2001, the Daily Herald reported; tollway leaders contend she was the most qualified person for the $80,000-a-year engineering department job. The tollway also has a $6.6 million subcontract with Morreale Communications as part of a larger engineering contract. The firm is led by CEO Kim Morreale, who is married to Chicago's only Republican state representative, Michael McAuliffe. Tollway officials say they follow state procurement laws and the Morreale firm was hired on its merits."

not Durkins.

They are a major Republican family in Illinois. Rauner is an outsider. He can gripe about cronyism all he wants. In Illinois, both parties have powerful families. Politics is the family business.

Rauner might have done better if he had learned how things work here and if he could have learned how to work with the political families on both sides of the aisle. Rauner does not know how to negotiate or compromise, two things essential to politics. He is much like trump when it comes to working with others.
