Illinois Among Most Vulnerable To Election Hacking: Dems

ILLINOIS — The Committee on House Administration Democrats released a report on Thursday that identified 18 states with election systems that are most vulnerable to being hacked. Illinois — which fell victim to Russian hacking in the 2016 election — is among the most at-risk states, according to the findings.

The 18 states were classified into three tiers based on vulnerabilities and whether or not they are using federal assistance to address those shortcomings. Illinois fell into tier two, states that have significant election security vulnerabilities but may not be planning on using federal assistance to address their biggest issues.

Illinois was awarded a $13.2 million grant in April to help stop vote tampering.

But they send final results in electronically on election night. So, the final, total results can be tampered with. Then you would have prove it and ask for a recount. Who pays for that? We went through all that with Gore/Bush. It's not as cut and dry as most people think. The machines can also be hacked to count more for one candidate than the other. The system needs a lot more security.

That would show inconsistencies....and related to hacking, so we aren't as vulnerable as some would say about Illinois.

someone must recognize that the electronic sending system or the vote counting machines themselves, have been hacked. That would require a recount. How do you know the machines are counting the ballots properly? You don't unless there's a recount, a hand recount of paper ballots at that. I disagree and will side with our Democrats in Congress on this one. We need stronger ballot security. Not just in Illinois, but nationwide.

any discrepancies would trigger a manual recount of the paper ballots on a statistical basis to see if a pattern of "so-called hacking" has occurred. This not rocket science at all. The big issue is anm overwhelming voter turnout makes hacking even less likely as the statistics would indicate an irregularity.

not rocket science and a big reason why Illinois has paper ballot trail
