More bomb threats at Springfield High School

Springfield High School received two bomb threats this week, marking the 10th and 11th bomb threats District 186 has received this school year alone.

The school, 101 S. Lewis St., received threats on Monday and Thursday.

Unlike previous incidents, the bomb threats did not prompt an evacuation and parents were not immediately notified. The State Journal-Register learned of the incidents from Springfield police Thursday afternoon.

District 186 spokeswoman Bree Hankins said the district responded the way it did this week because it quickly determined the threat was not credible.

Hankins said the district planned to send out an automated call to parents Thursday afternoon; it did so just before 4 p.m., after school had ended for the day.
