WASHINGTON Freshman Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth says she opposes, at least for now, a proposal by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., to make Medicare available for anyone seeking health insurance.
Duckworth, a Democrat and decorated veteran who lost both legs in Iraq after the helicopter she was piloting was shot down, told the Post-Dispatch this week that she is in the middle of pessimism and optimism on whether Congress can do something to fix the problems with the Affordable Care Act that she says are evident.
And a lot of that, Duckworth said, is dependent on whether quiet talks to shore up the ACA between Sen. Lamar Alexander, a Republican from Tennessee, and Washington Democratic Sen. Patty Murray continue, or if they are overwhelmed by renewed GOP attempts to pass an overhaul of Obamacare in the Senate.
In an interview in her office, where her Purple Heart is memorialized in a display in her reception area, Duckworth talked about her disappointment with the partisanship that has plagued Congress throughout her entirety here. She served in the House of Representatives, including a stint on the fiercely divided Benghazi investigation committee, for two terms before defeating Republican Sen. Mark Kirk last November.

(6,073 posts)2nd you plant the seed before the harvest. 3rd she just voted to spend $700 billion for Defense, $50 billion ore than the asshole asked for. She obviously has no stake in the future of healthcare, she and her husband deservedly have VA. I simply stated I will send her no more money since my family will need it for their healthcare. Every one is entitled to send her all they want, just saying no more from me. If we have to wait for what the GOP accepts, we have already lost.

(96,563 posts)the future of healthcare because of that vote, then I guess Warren and Markey don't either by that logic, since they also voted for the 700 billion dollar defense bill.
As to who we choose or not choose to donate to, that is a personal choice

(6,073 posts)Enabling the meme that D's and R's are all the same. That's why so many young white men were in to Ron Paul and Rand Paul acolytes. Many have moved on to T-Rumps base. Her having no stake in healthcare was based on the fact that she and her husband have VA coverage and no children. Again, what has she done to uphold the ACA beyond her vote? All my communication from her has been to send money or lose the ACA. Why are our politicians not communicating with there constituents with information instead of go fund me? I do not send Warren or Markey money either. Their emails, are primarily fund raisers also. We are asked to call or write our Senators at which time they get info to ask for money.
