Rauner - buyers' remorse?

I have buddies in both municipal, court, and police & sheriffs' offices. Despite my warnings and gentle proddings, a surprising majority of them decided to vote against Gov. Quinn and allowed Bruce "Scott" Rauner to buy the governorship.

Those who I have seen since the state of the onion message have been uniformly depressed by their decisions, especially since they are the ones who will suffer the most.

The problem Rauner has is that both houses of government are against him on most major issues. The problem that the Democrats have is that a governor still has some powers that will create strife and trouble.

Wisconsin, our lovely neighbor to the north, has suffered another decline in average wages, now $800 less than Indiana, which is far lower than Illinois. Rauner's plan is to follow the Wankerstan approach and demolish labor as a political or lobbying force.

Then again, Quinn pretty much ran a campaign as though it was designed by the DNC. No specifics, no answers, just "I'm not as bad as the other guy."

...and I'm still not convinced there weren't some serious shenanigans in Chicago that tilted the vote to Mitt Jr, but the bottom line is that there are a fuck-ton of racist asshats that live downstate and they outvoted the Democrats...

Hopefully the Democratic majority will be able to minimize the damage this asshole plans to inflict on anyone that isn't in the 1%...

Something was up in Cook County for Quinn to lose.

It's going to be a long six years with Rauner. I hope it is an awakening for those Rauner-voters. We do need to figure out the fiscal mess, hopefully not on the backs of lower and middle class residents.

In the last debate Rauner called Quinn a "failure" over and over and in a very insulting "in your face" manner. Almost bordering on disgust.
It was painful to listen to and I'll never understand why Quinn just stood there at the podium and took it.

It seemed the more stoic he was the more personal abuse ole Rauner poured on. I had once heard that Quinn had a well known volatile temper so was Rauner trying to get him off message and into a red faced tirade before the tv cameras so he could run and make even more tv commercials?

It was totally bizarre. Quinn feebly tried to defend his record but he seemed defeated. It was like watching someone being beaten up by the school bully and totally unable to defend himself.

but he won 53% of a 34% turnout. This after spending 20 million of his own money.

Quinn was the Illinois version of Al Gore, with all the media against him as well. The biggest Illinois paper, the Chicago Tribune, is a GOP rag that bashed Quinn for 4 years while treating Brucie Boy with kid gloves.

Cook County could have won the election for Quinn if he had inspired anyone. Downstate is more like Indiana as far as politics and geography, but few people.

I voted for Quinn because anybody who's willing to be paid a dollar year is dangerous. I tried telling these ignorant ass people but noooo I'm the crazy lady. He wanted the job to get his friends in and take over Chicago. But he shouldve known that democrats won't allow it. Currently he is trying to sell the Thompson Center. It's right across the street from City Hall. No one has child care help and medical marijuana is stopped in its tracks. I looked at people crazy when they complain about Rauner. I ask did they vote. All the replies i got were nos. I then call them idiots and I walk off. Never trust a person who doesnt take the money. Those kinds of individuals are dangerous.

17. Actually, this was the first time in memory that a Republic0n for governor called my house

asking for my vote. I was pissed off. His party called my house! WTF!!! Not only that, I think that he gave money to some of the churches in my area for them to say they were supporting Rauner. Getting a dollar to work as Governor...I don't recall ever seeing that either. And that MF Rauner knew that sh*t only works within his party, but I guess not.
