When I was 8 years old I came home from Catholic School and told my mother I didn't believe what the nuns were telling me.
My mother was shocked.

When I was 13 yrs old my father was flying combat in Viet Nam and I told him I thought the war was wrong.
He was shocked.

So I have to tone things down I learned.

It gets a lot of laughs it’s a lot of fun, I’m wondering will they outlaw these, or only the ones they think are “woke”. This is just another law for selective prosecution of people they don’t like

6. They used to do this in the military too.

Once when I was a kid growing up in the military, some of the younger officers dressed up in hula skirts/coconut shell bras and put on a skit. Sang and danced. Something from South Pacific.

The audience, consisting of military men and their wives, loved it.

The children didn't get to see it, but we saw the pictures afterwards and we got a real kick out of it.

These were USAF officers, flying combat missions back and forth to Viet Nam at the time.

What the hell is wrong with men who are risking their lives every day, blowing off some steam and having fun.

Right, are the MAGAs going to make people talk a loyalty oath or pledge before they have fun?

11. I used to babysit for the five kids of an Air Force major

He would fly the big planes to Asia, come home after a 24 hour flight and go straight to the officers club, not getting back until about 4 AM with his wife. But he paid very well, so it didn’t bother me, the kids were fun.I think the coconut shells with the Hula skirts are always funny but I have a warped sense of humor

12. Typically, AF officers with five children usually pay the babysitter well.

Because it is beyond the normal number of children a sitter has to take care of.

And a USAF major is a field level officer making good pay, housing and food allowances, etc.

When living overseas especially, the Officer's Club is the favorite place to be.

There is a pool, pop, snacks, lunch for the kids.

The adults have cheap booze, entertainment, fun.

Sometimes we are stationed in locations with nothing to do at all.
And no TV, just one military radio station.

So the O Club is some bit of a normal life.

O Clubs are a treat no matter where they are located, but more so in some locations.

They were always out there at the officers club when they weren’t working. I think they had a golf course and a pool, I could be wrong. Unfortunately some of my friends could get transferred away. One of my best friends was transferred to Minot, North Dakota. Talk about a remote location

I just checked and Dover AFB does have a golf course.

Those are newer additions from when I was a kid in the military living on small AF bases.

Prior to going overseas during the Viet Nam war we were at a very small base with no Officer's Club at all.
So when we went overseas to an AF base with a swimming pool it was like heaven.

A swimming pool and they had soda pop and potato chips!
It didn't get much better than that in our books.

Yes some of the postings were bleak. There was a young captain next door to us on one of the overseas bases
where we lived. He was a pilot flying very dangerous reconnaissance missions over North Viet Nam. When it was time
to go home, he got orders to go to Minot AFB and I remember clearly his wife crying one whole afternoon when she heard this news.
I used to babysit for their young children so I knew them well. I felt very bad for her.

Back when I was young there was no such thing as military family services etc. None of the support services that now exist.
Families were more of a nuisance back then in the eyes of the military.

Families were posted to remote locations far away from family and friends. In some cases overseas there was no military housing available so families lived off base in third world type accommodations. This was especially the case early during the Viet Nam war when there was a surge of military in the Viet Nam area and not enough US military infrastructure to accommodate the families.

The men were typically away all the time so it was just the wives and kids on base, living on their own. Eventually we were posted to an overseas AF base w/ more of a normal life. An O club, base library and base theater. The military was trying to give us a better life and we appreciated it and were much happier.

5. Obviously such a bill would violate the 1st Amendment. That's the point. I suspect

that the purpose of the bill is to instigate a constitutional challenge and be overturned, because Republicans want to spread discontent with the constitution among their constituents. They’re priming the population for a constitutional convention that remake the constitution in their own image.

We must allow our children to be slaughtered in school.

That is the American way.

7. In the US killing children and pregnant women is legal. But having fun is a crime.
