Idaho: Images of the Gem State

Idaho is one of the most sparsely populated states in the union, with fewer than 1.8 million residents living on about 83,500 square miles, or about 21 people per square mile. Much of the land is protected protected wilderness area, or held by the U.S. Forest Service. Here are a few glimpses of the landscape of Idaho and some of the wildlife and people calling it home.

This photo story is part of Fifty, a collection of images from each of the United States.

I have traveled every inch of it and skied from Sun Valley to Schweitzer Mountain. Showed horses all across the state and my lifelong best friend lives in Post Falls. It's a shame the politics are so rotten.

for quite a spell but a spat with senator wide-stance kind of ended mt desire to live there... it seems it was a mutual agreement when I left. So I jumped the state line and have been happy in Montana for nearly two decades now.

Beautiful real estate, shitty social climate.

No need to say what exactly, I'm just trying to get close.

I agree with your other comment: Great landscape and recreational values, dreary red-state politics.

Someday I hope business interests might have to equally share the statehouse with enviromental/recreational interests.

but there's one or two of each of those near it. There is a derivative of one of those words in it though, I'm sure you can guess.

The summer I spent there was so divine that I cried all the way home because I didn't want to leave, ever.

I couldn't come up with the name yesterday but it popped right into the noggin this morning. Thanks for the puzzle.
