Hey, DeKalb County voters!

I hope you're not passing on today's election because "only Republicans are running."

I went by my polling place just to make sure the Georgia Republicans hadn't pulled some dirty trick like putting Ralph Reed on the Dem ticket... plus I'd love it if the Dems have a strong statewide showing to make the Repukes look pathetic.

For a nanosecond I considered voting for Santorum or Paul just to help make sure things stay fucked up for the R's a while longer, but then my lifelong string of NEVER voting for a fucking Republican would have been broken. Plus, I could just see Santorum winning Georgia by one vote, and that being enough to give him the nomination, and then through fraud and trickery and luck winning the general election in a nightmare scenario -- and it would all be my fault!

So anyway, I took a look at the Democratic ballot and was surprised to see not only the name of President Obama, but also a vote on whether to allow Sunday sales of packaged alcoholic beverages. So piss off a prude -- drop by the polls before 7 p.m. and cast your vote in support of Sunday package sales!

I actually was going to pass on voting today, but you're right, I need to vote anyway. Let's show solidarity and have a good turnout! Thanks for the reminder!

And I think the Sunday package sales issue is not county wide. I live in Kirkwood (my polling place is Israel Baptist Church on Hosea L. Williams Drive) and we voted on this issue back in November. I think that might be a city-by-city vote or a vote for unincorprated DeKalb, depending on where you live.

But you're right, if it's on your ballot, piss of a fundie with your vote!

I didn't know We could but I got an email from some Democratic organization yesterday that urged me to go vote for Obama today, so I did.

I thought about voting for Rick Sanctimonious too, I couldn't do it: 1) I've never voted for an R and 2) it still feels historic to me to be casting a vote for Barack Obama. It was an honor to be able to do so, especially in Ga.

I can't wait to see how many other Georgians cast their vote for President Obama...

I did it. Voted for my first republican ever. Santorum.

It was creepy but kind of fun, too.

Bachmann, Huntsman, et al were on the ballot, too, in case anyone's interested.

ETA: I'm in unincorporated DeKalb and we had Sunday liquor sales on the ballot.

I was going to do a protest vote to prolong the agony in the republican primaries, but couldn't bring myself to select the R ballot.
I cast my two votes on the ballot, one for President Obama (wouldn't it be great if he got more than all the R's combined) and the second for alcohol sales on Sunday in Cobb County (it passed). I must admit that last one was a conflict of interest. Both hubby and I work for the same grocery store chain, his store is in Cobb mine in Roswell. Fulton voted and passed alcohol sales on Sunday last year. We have been kicking his store's butt in Sunday sales since that vote. Now it seems we will have a level playing field.
