Georgia
Related: About this forumFor those Democrats who would write Georgia off this election.
I'm disappointed at some of these comments, this state is a battleground already in 2014. We have Jason Carter and Michelle Nunn running at the top of the ticket, that is what makes us different from Kentucky and Texas, those states only have one strongman at the top of the ticket and both Grimes and Davis are polling not only below their republican counterparts but below their Georgia Counterparts, there is no closer race for Governor and Senate in this country than Georgia.
Jason and Michelle have joined forces something most other races don't do, by sharing assets in a coordinated campaign we can hit the Maximum number of Doors, call the maximum number of people and persuade them to vote for both of our candidates. We share call lists, canvass packets and volunteers, all in a coordinated effort to win this for the democrats, Jason and Michelle are working together building off of each other to give democrats a better chance of winning this state now than in 2012.
If you don't think we can win this state then you haven't met our candidates, you haven't been to one of our field offices, you have not seen the courage that we show in the face of adversity because we know that Georgia deserves better, that Georgia can do better, and all we need to do is vote for Michelle Nunn and Jason Carter.
Help us, find your local Democratic Party or one of the several field offices and volunteer for a canvass or phone bank, visit Jason Carter on his Bus tour of Georgia, I've seen that bus it looks better than the Obama bus. Alternatively you can Donate money to the campaign help them with the last ad push. every person you Canvass is about 25% more likely to go out and vote, vote blue, every time you canvass a person who is a Strong Democrat and wants to volunteer with the campaign, you can take credit for him as he goes out canvassing, or Phone Banking. I Know because i have Canvassed for Jason and Michelle, i have Phone Banked for them, i have met them they are wonderful. I love it when Jason talks to us volunteers and tells us that he appreciates what we are doing, that he cares for us the volunteers who are out there every day, pounding pavement with clipboard in hand or dialing number after disconnected number trying to speak to Democrats about why they should vote.
as much as i need the resume builder that isn't why i volunteered for Jason, I volunteered because i saw what Nathan Deal's budget cuts did to Georgia's Schools. It cost my mother her job as a teacher of Advanced Placement Psychology at Peachtree Ridge High School in Gwinnett, a teacher well loved by the students with consistently good scores on the AP exams, she built up the Social Studies AP electives program. I volunteered because I saw Nathan Deal's moral construct and was disgusted, I saw Jason and know that his code of honor can just about match mine and my code of honor is Strict with a capital S. I see in Jason a bit of the me that holds that altruistic desire to make the world a better place. Well we will make Georgia better but i think the world will benefit when we do, and we become a world Leader in subject areas that doe not include teen pregnancy or unemployment.

(12,261 posts)I've seen ads where Deal brags about all the jobs he's brought to Georgia, yet somehow we have the worst unemployment rate in the country...... I'd have thought that would make a powerful commercial.
In any case, EVERYONE needs to vote.

(105 posts)I have subscribed to Jason Carter's youtube Channel:
https://www.youtube.com/user/Carter4GA?feature=em-uploademail
here we can see all of the ads from the carter campaign and some video's that arn't ads but boost Jason/ hurt Deal
in case you haven't seen Jason or any of the Democrats in the Debates the Atlanta Press Club put them all up on their Youtube:
Jason even responded directly to Deal's boasting that we have the #1 economy by saying here: that what matters is what the people back home feel and none of us in Georgia are feeling that we are doing better now than in 2010.
We have a governor in this state who has like Rick Perry Obstructed every attempt by the Obama Administration to improve our economy. Nathan Deal has blood on his hands and i wish Jason would do an add on that too, because Deal refused Medicaid expansion there are people in Georgia dieing because they don't have adequate access to healthcare, 4 rural Georgia Hospitals have closed because Deal didn't expand Medicaid and i bet there are some hospitals that are hanging on by a thread waiting and hoping Jason wins, if he Loses they will close their doors. In some places in Georgia the nearest hospital is an hour away by ride of Ambulance. an Hour can make the difference between life and death.
above all else if you think that we arn't doing enough its because we don't have you in our offices Knocking on Doors or Phone Banking. by the end of the campaign i Personally will likely have knocked on over a Thousand Doors, I know People who have knocked on more doors than me, who have called more people than me. the Campaign Paid Staff (i am an unpaid Fellow who can only put in time between college classes and studying for said classes) is probably getting about 6 hours of Sleep, they leave the office well past Midnight and Come in bright and early, every day without relent. I have seen at least one of these people buckle under the strain, most have more work to do than is humanly possible to do, and they come in every day many times sleep deprived, Yawning, knowing that they have another big day ahead of them. And they do all this, almost masochistic devotion to their work, because they know that we can win this election, it will take everything that we have got to win it, but it is an attainable goal.
I urge you again to help us Get out the Vote This November 4th.

(30,947 posts)I voted a straight Democratic ticket. I skipped over candidates that did not have a Democrat opponent on the ballot. I am in Cherokee County which is mostly Republican.
