There’s no question - Georgia women can be pivotal in electing leaders who will work to end Georgia’s own War on Women.
Access to health care, protection of our individual rights and economic security for women - this can be Georgia’s future if we register to vote, show up on Election Day and act on the progressive values that will protect our rights.
Georgia women cannot afford four more years of a right-wing agenda that endangers our health and economic well-being. Please join us in ensuring that we, as women, will make the difference in November by signing our pledge to vote. Together, we will make Georgia a better place for women!
A REAL BAD DEAL FOR WOMEN:
Georgia’s conservative leadership is failing women.
In fact, Georgia ranks 41st in the nation for how women are faring.
HEALTHCARE: Gov. Deal refuses to expand Medicaid, and as result, 342,000 Georgian women are left uninsured. Even worse, Georgia is the most dangerous place in the U.S. to have a baby.
INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS: Gov. Deal has a long history of supporting anti-women policies - from attempting to overturn Georgia’s rape shield law in 1991, to this April, when he signed an extremist anti-choice bill that eliminated state health insurance for abortions, even in cases of rape and incest.
ECONOMIC SECURITY: Gov. Deal voted against equal pay for women in the workplace four separate times despite the fact that women in Georgia only make 81 cents for every dollar that a man makes. Georgia women are short-changed $11.3 billion each year solely because of their gender.
However, there is good news for us.
Female voters in the state of Georgia matter, and we will make a difference on Election Day.
We are the majority of registered voters and we have a higher voter turnout on Election Day than male voters. But we can do better - only 67% of eligible females are registered to vote and only 34.8% of women ages 18-34 are registered to vote.
It’s time to demand leaders who respect women and care about the issues that impact us most.
