Elections Director Charlotte Sosebee Resigns for Position in Dekalb County, GA
Athens-Clarke County Unified Government (ACCGov) Elections Director Charlotte Sosebee has resigned from her position as of February 21, 2025, for a position with Dekalb County, GA as Elections and Registration Manager. Sosebee was appointed director of ACCGov’s Election Department in December 2016.
“It has been an honor to lead the Athens-Clarke County Elections Department,” said Sosebee, “and I am incredibly proud of the work we have accomplished together in my eight years as director. As I transition to Dekalb County, I look forward to supporting the integrity of the election process in new capacities and exciting ways.”
Among her many accomplishments while serving the community, Sosebee managed the organization and execution of 22 elections, ensuring they were free, fair, and transparent; implemented Spanish language option ballots; launched the first-ever “I Voted Early” sticker contest; and expanded advance voting opportunities through new locations, including the Tennis Center, the Miriam Moore Community Center, and the Extension Office.
In her role with ACCGov, Sosebee received her federal certification through the Election Center, which is the highest professional achievement for election officials, and recently received national recognition with an induction into the National Hall of Fame of Election Officials.
