Ossoff receives long-awaited updates on post office woes

(Atlanta Journal-Constitution) It’s been weeks since U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff of Georgia began begging for answers about recent United States Postal Service failures. On Friday, he finally got them.

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy sent Ossoff a lengthy letter addressing the problems at the Atlanta Regional Processing and Distribution Center in Palmetto after months of metro Atlanta residents complaining about late mail. The facility opened in February.

Local residents told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the issues have been burdensome. Some complained of not being able to send wedding invitations and birthday cards, while others struggled to make bill payments and receive medicine.

With enough postage and some air holes he could be sent to Atlanta.

It is a perfect example of what one person can do to destroy an institution if given the authority to do so. The GOP put him in intentionally, with every intention of destroying a government service that has been around since the beginning of the American Revolution.

These people (GOP) hate all things associated with government. In their world, the capitalistic market control the planet and government is there to serve that purpose.

Hold on to your hat - we probably haven't seen anything yet.

I'm glad I drink. ☮

Or even just Georgia. I can’t trust the USPS to deliver basic, first class mail in a timely manner.

For example , two years ago, I was supposed to get a reimbursement check from my dentist, who’s office was literally a mere five miles down the road from where I was living. It took that first class envelope more than a week to get to me from the day it was mailed.

Now, if an in-town, first class letter can’t make it next day, two days max, there’s a major fucking problem. And if there’s a major fucking problem with on-time delivery in town, there’s an even bigger problem with mail and packages not locally addressed for delivery.

And yeah, DeJoyless has cost me a couple of packages from Amazon, too. Had to wait out the delivery period plus the extra couple of days Amazon requires before you can report the package lost, then go through that process to get another item sent and wait…all over again.

Fuck Louis DeJoyless. Fuck him and the horse he rode in on. He’s doing what the GOOQ have wanted to do for decades: Ruin the postal service so that everything it does can be outsourced to private companies. And service will get even worse as prices go even higher…all for the glory of the almighty corporate god, Shareholder Value.
