Kemp to sign bill allowing people to carry handguns without a license in Georgia

ATLANTA - Gov. Brian Kemp is expected to sign a bill allowing Georgia residents to carry handguns in public without a license or background check into law Tuesday.

The Georgia Senate passed the legislation on at the beginning of April, sending it to the governor’s desk for signature.

"For law-abiding Georgians, their carry permit is the 2nd Amendment. I’m proud to have worked alongside leaders in the General Assembly to get Constitutional Carry over the finish line, and I look forward to signing it into law," Kemp tweeted after the bill's passage.

The governor initially promised the measure when he first ran for governor in 2018, but little was done to advance it. It’s been revived now that Kemp faces opposition in this year’s primary from former U.S. Republican Sen. David Perdue and others. Longtime proponents of gun rights have credited Kemp’s advocacy for moving the issue forward.

I feel less safe. I have a school age child and I fear for the safety of my family.

The GA GOP, which rants about crime problems and promoted this law, is now going to be directly responsible for an increase in violent crime, suicide and accidental deaths.

Real question - not trolling you. In the other states with so-called constitutional carry, was there in increase in gun injury or death after it was inacted?

3. Here in Ohio we sleep with a gun under our Mr. Pillow, you never know when you will need

a gun. Myself I have a handgun in my shower, people never think of this but that is where you are the
most vulnerable. When I was mowing my grass yesterday these two black guys went driving by my
house, luckily I had my rifle in a scabbard on my lawn tractor or who knows what they would have done.
