Related: About this forumDoes GA have designated health care givers who get vaccine priority?
Here in MN one has to be 75 to get one. The rest of us are at the mercy of lotteries.
A 62 yr old family member in GA apparently got this designation and the vaccine as a major care giver for her 87 year old mother in... Florida.

(1,096 posts)She called and told me there were spots available and that I should make an appointment before they fill up. I asked how she qualified and she said she told them she was the caregiver for her mom who lives 30 minutes away by herself, still drives, etc. She said they don't check and that I should tell them that I'm the caregiver for my mom - who lives 500 miles in Florida and hasn't even gotten her 2nd shot yet. I told her I thought teachers and other 'essential' workers should be moved to the front of the line and that I'd wait my turn.

(48,797 posts)There were heartbreaking letters in the paper from parents who care for disabled and autistic children who need to be vaccinated. From other care givers.
My 75 year old spouse is going to have a major surgery and got both vaccines. I am waiting for the lottery.
Time to contact my state representative. I will not get it in time but perhaps others will.
Thanks, again.

(2,587 posts)Spouse is over 65. I am not. Caretakers are allowed to be vaccinated at the same time. Pfizer here. First shot for both of us was on Jan. 11 and second was exactly three weeks later. All through Fulton County Health Department. Cant believe the system worked! I know we are blessed. Totally happened because we were at the right time and place.Online registration and both shots as a caretaker was very straightforward. No one questioned anything.
